Project: Hawthorn residence

The project entailed transforming a Classical Victorian house into a substantial contemporary family residence with a strong indoor-outdoor emphasis. The original Italianate façade set the tone for the renovations which utilized exclusively Italian materials, most sourced directly from their country of origin. High quality materials such as stone and terracotta planter boxes were sourced from Italy. Italian stone masons selected the marble used. American oak was chosen for the cabinetry. Zoned spaces over three levels and handmade wrought-irn stairs were designed to create areas that met the need for low-maintenance ease while also setting the highest standards of luxury. Loggias were adopted to link internal spaces and exterior dimensions in a streamlined, seamless manner.
